Here are Metal Utopia’s most anticipated albums of the week!
Chaz is looking forward to Heavy Sentence’s Bang to Rights:
Fans of Lemmy, High on Fire, speed metal, and punk will love this party album of the year featuring 2 musicians from European black metal troupe Wode.
Leon is looking forward to Grey Aura’s Zwart Vierkant, and Portal’s Avow:
Dutch black metal has been kicking ass for the past half decade or so, being both highly creative and stylistically distinct. Grey Aura’s avantgarde approach fits perfectly within this development. Perplexing, mystical, atmospheric.
Portal’s sixth full length. Time to stick your head into the eldritch abyss again and wonder why it feels so good.
Rick is looking forward to Bloodbound’s Creatures Of The Dark Realm, and Burning Witches’ The Witch Of The North:
Two years after the great “Rise Of The Dragon Empire”, Bloodbound make their return with their nineth album. Their brand of power metal is sufficiently unique to make them memorable, and they manage not to slip into the excessive cheesy-ness which plagues so many power metal releases nowadays; I’m starting to think that this new album might even be their best so far.
Isn’t it wonderful when you get into a band only to discover that they’re going to publish new material soon? That’s what happened with me and this distinctively retro all-women band. I don’t have much to say except that I love their take on traditional heavy metal, and I can’t get enough of them.
“The demo was better.”
