Upcoming Albums – May, 20th

Here are Metal Utopia’s most anticipated albums of the week!

Leon is looking forward to Sadist’s Firescorched, Come to Grief’s When The World Dies, and Blut Aus Nord’s Disharmonium – Undreamable Abysses:

Sadist – Firescorched

Thirty years now that these Italians deliver their unique brand of techy progressive metal, somewhere between death and thrash. I’ve always felt they aren’t talked about enough considering their quality.

Come to Grief – When The World Dies

Legendary dank sludge band Grief now reformed with some ex-members. They’ve been pummeling it on the couple of singles and EP’s so far. Let’s hope the full length keeps it up.

Blut Aus Nord – Disharmonium – Undreamable Abysses

I feel Blut Aus Nord needs no explanation at this point. If you don’t know, I’ll just tell you to hop on for some supremely well made and always creative atmospheric black metal.

Rick is looking forward to Ice War’s Beyond The Void, and Elusive God’s Trapped In A Future Unknown:

Ice War – Beyond The Void

Earnest if a bit unpolished heavy/speed metal from Canada. Maybe not mind-blowing but entertaining: the kind of under-the-radar stuff it’s worth keeping an eye on.

Elusive God – Trapped In A Future Unknown

Epic doom metal to keep your head baniging and your soul trembling. Elusive God put together the best of both worlds, the heaviness and majesty of doom metal with the emotional investment of epic metal. If 21st-century Candlemass are your jam, Elusive God might be as well.

Rutger is looking forward to and Septicflesh’s Modern Primitive:

Septicflesh – Modern Primitive

This Friday, Septicflesh release their eleventh full-length to date. I’m curious what they’ve done in the five years since they created Codex Omega, but it’s bound to be some catchy symphonic death metal.
