Here are Metal Utopia’s most anticipated albums of the week!
Ethan is looking forward to Tomb Mold ‘s Planetary Clairvoyance:
Planetary Clairvoyance is the third full-length from these Canadians. After seeing them live, and hearing a few of these songs early, I knew well enough to pre-order. My tape came in already and hasn’t left my player since!
JP is looking forward to Gravemind’s Conduit, and Render’s Valis Ablaze:
Add this band to the never ending list of insane Australian bands. Gravemind are here to melt your face off with their emotional and melodic yet absolutely monstrous sounding brand of deathcore. These guys need more attention, and this record is going to get them that, guaranteed.
These guys are still relatively unknown considering how good they are. Valis Ablaze is a progressive metal band in the vein of Tesseract and Skyharbor. After releasing their debut record last year, they’re back sounding as good as ever with the promising new singles in support of Render.
Leon is looking forward to Falls of Rauros’ Patterns of Mythology, and Wormed’s Metaportal:
I’m a huge sucker for nature themed black metal (Wolves In The Throne Room got me into atmoblack, don’t judge me) and Falls of Rauros are definitely one of the prime bands you need to check out if you’re interested in that kind of stuff. This is going to be their sixth full length.
Wormed is a death metal band that goes all out, whether it be with brutality, speed, technicality and even the mind-boggling nanotech-AI-cosmic struggle sci-fi theme. And it’s not a complete incoherent mess, it actually works really well. This is just a short EP, but I bet it’ll be packed to the brim with the goods.
Rutger is looking forward to Sabaton’s The Great War:
A few weeks ago, I had the honour of interviewing Sabaton’s singer, Joakim Brodén, and since then, my hype for the new record has only increased. The singles that the band already released were really cool, so I’m excited to hear the rest of the album.
“The demo was better.”
