Upcoming Albums

Upcoming Albums – February, 26th

Here are Metal Utopia’s most anticipated albums of the week!

Chaz is looking forward to Significant Point’s Into the Storm:

Significant Point – Into the Storm

Captivating, Tokyo-based speed metal featuring wailing Japanese and ESL vocals, high-flying guitars, and frenzied rhythms.

Chris is looking forward to Spelljammer’s Abyssal Trip:

Spelljammer – Abyssal Trip

I’ve been jones-ing for some riffy stoner/doom from Sweden, I expects Spelljammer will fill that need in short order with this release. I think a quick trip to the dispensary and some head phones and Abyssal Trip will make for a great night.

Leon is looking forward to Vektor / Cryptosis’ Transmissions of Chaos Split EP, Melvins’ Working With God, and Empyrium’s Über den Sternen:

Vektor / Cryptosis – Transmissions of Chaos Split EP

I only heard the Cryptosis half of the split, but let me tell you, it’s a band you’ll want to keep your eye on. Superbly crafted death/thrash that stands as equal alongside the already highly revered Vektor.

Melvins – Working With God

I honestly haven’t listened to much Melvins past The Bride Screamed Murder, but their persistence must be respected and besides, they’re highly talented and experienced musicians that can still ocasionally put out a total banger of a song.

Empyrium – Über den Sternen

I don’t know how Markus Stock isn’t already a household name in metal, presenting us his mystic naturalism across several bands for decades now, each one of them of superb quality. Empyrium is his more folk-oriented project and but it gives off the same haunting vibe.

Rutger is looking forward to Los Males del Mundo’s Descent Towards Death:

Los Males del Mundo – Descent Towards Death

The black metal formation Argentina releases their debut full-length. They already released an impressive single and so I’m looking forward to hearing the full record.

Sean is looking forward to Architects’ For Those Who Wish to Exist:

Architects – For Those Who Wish to Exist

One of the very few metalcore bands that actually makes music that interests me in any way at all, Architects have been on a run of quality album after quality album for well over since Hollow Crown in 2009. Haters be damned and this is a good band and this is sure to be a good album.
