Upcoming Albums – February, 11th

Here are Metal Utopia’s most anticipated albums of the week!

Rutger and Rick are looking forward to Zeal & Ardor’s Zeal & Ardor:

Zeal & Ardor – Zeal & Ardor

It’s time for Zeal & Ardor’s third full-length. Their unique blend of soul, blues, and black metal, has gained the Swiss band a cult status. With every release, the band has been refining their sound, so I’m curious to hear the next chapter in their discography.

In just nine years Zeal & Ardor have managed to become one of the most interesting and innovative projects in modern-day metal music. Their black metal + soul music formula has been perfected over the years and the single Götterdämmerung sounds like a promise for a incredible new release.

Jared is looking forward to Amorphis’ Halo:

Amorphis – Halo

Though I’ve already reviewed the album for the site, I’m very excited for Amorphis to drop their next record. Since picking up the promo material for Halo, I’ve been engrossed in it and it’s shaped up to be quite the release. I am very much looking forward to hearing the general reception for Halo, and I expect it should be quite positive.

Leon is looking forward to Cult of Luna’s The Long Road North, Hangman’s Chair’s A Loner, and Voivod’s Synchro Anarchy:

Cult of Luna – The Long Road North

I’ve heard the full thing and it is glorious. “A Dawn to Fear” and “The Raging River” didn’t do a lot for me but this, this is the band I’ve been so enamored with for such a long time.

Hangman’s Chair – A Loner

Top notch French depressive doom, recently with a welcome addition of some gothic elements.

Voivod – Synchro Anarchy

It’s Voivod, I ain’t gotta explain nothing. It’s the fathers of tech thrash and they still play it better than you.

Rick is looking forward to Legendarium’s Under The Spell Of Destruction:

Legendarium – Under The Spell Of Destruction

Third full-lenght for this Dutch/Italian band. I really appreciated their latest album and its classic heavy metal sound with a hint of punk influences, so I can’t wait to hear the next step in Legendarium’s journey.
