Here are our most anticipated releases of the week!
Vicious death metal from Season of Mist that sounds like staring down the edge of a dark pit. A big, full sound combined with some nasty riffs makes this a standout.
Cirkeln released the interesting “A Song To Sorrow” just last year. Very happy to have more material from this epic black metal project. While their last album wasn’t my favorite, there was enough to love to celebrate a new album.
Some crusty death metal from Nuclear Blast. The vocals are a bit much for me at times, but they add a dimension to the album and always maintain interest. The bass is clear, and the guitar layers sound just the right amount of overwhelming when kicked into gear and barren when in the background.
I was worried about this one, also from Nuclear Blast. While the band is obviously legendary, their last full-length didn’t really do it for me. But the triumphant run of old-guy death metal from the last few years continues. I’ve been really enjoying this release. They have a tech death sound to them while keeping their tracks slow and stretched out.
Crystal Coffin’s 2021 release “The Starway Eternal” was a delightful melodic black metal album that’s still in regular rotation. This follow-up, released on Halloween, has great production, electric atmosphere, and just as much energy as their last album. Fun times all around.
