These are some of the albums that we’ve been listening to the past month!
Matthew has been listening to Megadeth’s The System Has Failed:
I’ve been going through Megadeth’s back catalogue lately, and this album stands out. It’s got all the hooks and heaviness of the early albums without sacrificing song writing.
Jared has been listening to Fires In The Distance’s Air Not Meant For Us:
Although this record came out just a few weeks ago, I’ve had it spinning almost non-stop, it’s so infectious. The gorgeous leads, moving melodies, atmosphere, the reserved keyboards, juxtaposed with the rough and heavy rhythm guitar tone is such a wonderful contrast. This record is quickly becoming my album of the year for the first half of 2023, and the more time I spend with it, the more comfortable it becomes. What a wonderful album.
Rick is listening to Lords Of The Trident’s Shadows From The Past:
I was looking for something similar to Visigoth and this band came up. What to say, this album is simply infectious – riffs and grooves and melodies and solos. Epic vocals and gallopping verses, every song is a perfect battle hymn. This album in particular manages to keep it interesting from beginning to end.
Nathan is listening to Wormrot’s Hiss:
I’m always thrown off by the variety on this album. Despite being an aggressive and intense grindcore record, Wormrot cover a ton of ground in a short amount of time. They never lose focus though, and the result is an album that’s quickly becoming one of my go-to grindcore records.
