These are some of the albums we’ve been listening to in the past month!
Here’s the playlist with our favorite songs:
Nathan has been listening to Krallice’s Mass Cathexis:
New Krallice came out, so time to go through the old Krallice again. Mass Cathexis is an under-appreciated part of their catalog, if such a thing can exist. I hope this band never stops.
Rutger has been listening to Ellende’s Ellende:
Although Ellende is one my favorite artists, I had mostly listened to hos newer records. Recently, I discovered how awesome his debut full-length is, and it’s been spinning regularly lately.
Leon has been listening to Smoulder’s Times of Obscene Evil and Wild Daring:
In the past year or so I’ve really started appreaciating the trad metal revival. Some of the records in this wave became true classics for me, such as this one. A seamless mix of heavy metal and epic doom. Great female vocals, riffs aplenty, truly epic songs. They did an EP a bit later but I can’t wait for another full length.
Matthew has been listening to Meshuggah’s Koloss:
I’ve been listening to a lot of Meshuggah lately in preparation for their upcoming album. Koloss is one of the band’s more underrated albums. There are some crazy riffs in here, that’s for sure!
Jared has been listening to Amorphis’ Skyforger:
Since reviewing Halo, I’ve developed a newfound appreciation for Amorphis’ mid-era releases, namely Skyforger. Many fans consider this album to be their best, and while I don’t entirely agree, it has definitely grown on me since getting back into it. Amorphis has always been a truly gifted band when it comes to melody writing, and Skyforger is one of the best examples of that.
“The demo was better.”
