Album of the Month

Albums of the Month September 2024

Our favorite releases of September 2024:

Jared:

Winterfellyth – The Imperious Horizon

English atmoblack veterans Winterfylleth put out a new, outstanding record of emotive black metal with intimate folk influence and beautiful soundscapes, perfect for the fall season.

Nathan:

Oceans of Slumber – Where Gods Fear To Speak

Every moment on Where Gods Fear To Speak is full of passion, despair, or hope. Oceans of Slumber have made a complete, exhausting album, with some of the best vocals in metal. An album to get lost in.

Ripped to Shreds – 三屍 (Sanshi)

Ripped to Shreds is guitar worship death metal. Everything about this album is finding the best guitar tones, finding the best moments to showcase excellent solos, finding the best vocals to complement the guitar you’re going for. That’s not to say that the rest of the album isn’t important, all of those aspects sound great on their own, but they’re all here in focus of the almighty riff. This is Ripped to Shreds‘ best album, which is saying a lot given the high quality of their previous releases.

Servant – Death Devil Magick

Calling Servant virtuosic might be a stretch. Death Devil Magick isn’t flashy either. But it’s the best gut punch black metal released so far this year. The riffs are great, the songs maintain intensity, and the music sucks you in. For fans of Sargeist.
