Here are our favorite releases of March 2024:
Jared:
Sweden’s Dödsrit have largely shed their crust punk roots on Nocturnal Will, instead blossoming forth with a triumph of riff-driven melodic black metal, uplifting and glorious. Tastefully repetitive and charmingly simple, everything falls wonderfully into place.
Nathan:
More death/doom from some legends. Not a bad track on the album. Very few bands manage to pile up riffs upon riffs while keeping their songs moving at a brisk pace and also maintaining a deep and fresh sound. If you liked anything from Beyond The Circular Demise to Mortuary in Darkness, you will like Sinister Oath.
Apparition‘s newest release is just as good as Apparition‘s older releases. Disgraced Emanations From A Tranquil State consists of some very solid death metal that ventures into several different realms will staying grounded in a cavernous base. Some very long tracks on this one, but it’s worth the time.
Although the production is shinier than their old albums, Brodequin have released another absolutely vicious brutal death metal album. Harbinger Of Woe continues the band’s path to the edge of their style. Any brutal death metal fan should check this out.
