Every month we collect our favorite albums of the month. Here’s the playlist with our favorite songs:
Our favorite albums of the month November:
Nathan:
Stormkeep has given us ridiculously fun 2nd wave Norwegian worship that doesn’t take itself too seriously. Helps that the band has excess riff-writing talent as well.
Jared:
Incredible stuff. Molding together so many classic BM influences into a coherent, melodic, aggressive beast of an album. Magnificient songwriting, addictive melodies, and fantastic atmosphere. Super nerdy and a blast from front to back.
Rutger:
Noktvrn is a captivating atmospheric black metal record on which Der Weg einer Freiheit have perfectly balanced calm passages, experimental elements, and energetic black metal.
Rick:
Imposing colossal riffs paired with vocals that go from crooning to screaming; an incredible piece of art that speaks of pain, death and atonement and it becomes a musical catharsis. Consistent and cohesive without ever becoming dull, Deceiver is an album that will have you come back for more multiple times.
Matthew:
Tech death giant Obscura returns with a triumphant slab of blistering guitar solos and aspiring melodies. This is an album of the year contender, make no mistake.
Connor:
Stormkeep’s new record is imaginitive and ambitious, but black enough to counterbalance an excess of frill and camp. Tales of Othertime tastefully blends the best elements of black metal and melodic death to create a complete obversation that is rich with intensity, color, and musical clarity.
Leon:
A time capsule from late 90’s nordic black metal scene when they went all out with melodies and symphonics. Not exactly original in that regard, but stands equal with the best. Grandiose, majestic, entirely captivating, unapologetically nerdy.
“The demo was better.”
