Our favorite releases from January!
Jared:
Some romantic, ethereal raw black metal from one-woman project Mélancholie du Dhampir. In a cold, slow January, this record was a light in the darkness.
Nathan:
Onirophagus‘s third full length hits a death/doom sweet spot. I love the tone and atmosphere that these Spaniards have created.
Tempora Mutantur is a lot, but it’s worth it for those with the time and energy. This is an unapologetic prog album for prog fans. As such it can get wonky and immense, but it’s a good time by a band with a growing track record. Lunar should be more famous than they are.
It’s just classic heavy metal. Not much else to say. I love the guitars, the vocals, the style. Eat this album up every chance you get.
